Gina Ortiz Jones has defeated Republican Rolando Pablos to become San Antonio's new Mayor. Oritz Jones got more than 54% of the vote to beat the former Texas Secretary of State.
Pablos had won the endorsement of the liberal San Antonio Express News and had the backing of Governor Greg Abbott, while Ortiz-Jones had taken heat for the amount of outside money that came to her campaign.
She will replace Ron Nirenberg, who has been term limited out.
