Promises made, promises kept continues, as president Donald Trump kept his promise by signing an executive order aimed at dismantling the Department of Education.
At a formal gathering at the White House that featured Texas governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and AG Ken Paxton in attendance, Trump stressed that the goal is to have education authority returned to the individual states.
"We're going to be returning education back to the states where it belongs" Trump said, "And this is a very popular thing to do, but much more importantly it's a common sense thing to do and it's going to work. Absolutely it's going to work."
The executive order will direct Education Secretary Linda McMahon to start working with Congress to officially eliminate the department.
