Is Donald Trump The New Ronald Reagan?

Trump has been very open about how he sees former President Ronald Reagan as an inspiration, and now his second term is mirroring the start of Reagan's time in office in more ways than one.

One of the most obvious similarities is that Trump has been laser-focused on undoing many of the economic issues caused by former President Joe Biden. This has caused the first few months of Trump's second term to be economically bumpy.

Political strategist Vlad Davidiuk spoke about the similarities between the two presidents' economic starts, saying, "Certainly, President Reagan faced that when he came into office in 1981, with the 'Carter Malaise' and sky-high inflation."

But that's not where the similarities end. The foreign policy issues facing the two presidents at the beginning of their terms are almost mirrored. Both dealt with a hostage crisis and Russian aggression. Davidiuk said, "President Trump faces very similar challenges [as Reagan], and he has a very similar perspective on navigating the very turbulent waters of foreign policy."

Davidiuk says that while both face similar challenges, they also share a similar vision of powering through those challenges, rebuilding the American economy, and ushering in a golden age for America.
