Attorney General Pam Bondi is calling out the federal judge who blocked President Donald Trump from invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA).
Bondi issued a statement saying that U.S. District Judge James Boasberg had “supported Tren de Aragua terrorists over the safety of Americans.”
“TdA is represented by the ACLU. This order disregards well-established authority regarding President Trump’s power, and it puts the public and law enforcement at risk," said Bondi. "The Department of Justice is undeterred in its efforts to work with the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and all of our partners to stop this invasion and Make America Safe Again.”
Judge Boasberg had ordered the Trump administration to stop efforts of removing those Venezuelan migrants until he determined whether the invocation of the Alien Enemies Act was illegal or not. Also, any plane carrying suspected TdA members that was making its way out of the United States had to be returned.
Boasberg’s order came in response to a lawsuit that was brought on behalf of five named Venezuelan immigrants.
