Vice President JD Vance said he was confronted by pro-Ukrainian protesters while out walking with his 3-year-old daughter Saturday.

"Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of ‘Slava Ukraini’ protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared," Vance said in a post on X Saturday afternoon.

"I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone," he added. "Nearly all of them agreed."

Vance then went on to say it was a "mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a s--- person."

"Slava Ukraini" is a battle cry for the Ukrainian armed forces, meaning "Glory to Ukraine."

Video of the interaction from one protester or bystander has since been posted to social media.

This month, the Trump administration cut off funding and stopped intelligence sharing with Ukraine. This after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Vance and President Trump in the Oval Office last month for talks and to sign a rare Earth mineral deal. The deal was not signed after the three got into a few testy exchanges regarding a potential peace deal for the ongoing war Ukraine has with Russia.

Trump and Vance accused Zelenskyy of not being grateful for the support the U.S. has provided Ukraine since the years of the Biden administration. Zelenskyy was then asked to leave the White House and to publicly apologize for how the meeting went.

President Trump said a mineral deal between the U.S. and Ukraine will likely be reached soon. Last week, Zelenskyy said he was ready to pursue peace.

Vance was also met by protesters on a family ski vacation in Vermont just one day after the Oval Office meeting.
