Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks announced last week that after four years, federal construction of the border wall had finally resumed in Texas.
He made the announcement on X, saying that "These panels were originally planned for installation during the prior Trump Administration, but the contracts were cancelled by the Biden Administration."
This seems to be just another step towards common sense by the Trump administration, and Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland pointed out that it really shouldn't be controversial. He said, "President Bush, President Obama, and President Trump, they all built the border wall, and they all had bipartisan work on the border."
Cleveland says resuming construction of the wall will also help shore up parts of the border where less secure or damaged barriers are already in place. He said, "What they're doing now is coming back with the taller barrier, one that is harder to climb. They're going to be replacing all of that area to secure it and make it safer."
This means that both the State of Texas and the Trump Administration are actively working on construction of the border wall. According to the Texas Facilities Commission, there is still construction under way at 12 different locations across Cameron, Starr, Zapata, Webb, Maverick, and Val Verde Counties.
