President Trump giving his first big speech to Congress on Tuesday night, as he addressed a joint-session to discuss all things America. But it did not take long for things to go a little sideways for Democrats.
Texas Democrat Congressman Al Green, from the Houston area, was removed by the Sergeant-At-Arms after being unruly. Rep. Green began yelling, and pointing his cane, at President Trump. He was told by House Speaker Mike Johnson to maintain order. He was then asked to sit down and refused to do so. It was then he was promptly removed from the chambers. More video on that incident is below.
The President also discussed rising inflation, specifically egg prices. President Trump also reiterated the tariffs on Mexico and Canada re moving forward and will only consider lowering them if they do more to secure their borders, and stop the flow of fentanyl into the country.
He additionally discussed the Department of Government Efficiency's findings on government waste. That led to a humorous bit from President Trump, where he said, "We have a healthier country than we thought," to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In his address was another touching moment for the families of Laken Riley and Houston girl Jocelyn Nungaray, both of whom were murdered by illegal aliens last year. Trump honored the Riley family, and with Alexis Nungaray in attendance, made a surprising announcement. The President said that the Anahuac Wildlife Refuge near Galveston has been renamed, via executive order, in 12-year-old Jocelyn's name.
Eastern Europe did come up, but there was not much said as far as a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. He also did not formally announce that a mineral rights deal has been reached with Ukraine, after reports they could finalize and announced it during the speech.
However, as Trump was blasting the hundreds of billions spent by the U.S. on Ukraine, he saw Senator Elizabeth Warren clapping. He then asked Warren 'do you want the war to go on another five years?" When she did not respond, Trump jokingly said, "Pocahontas says yes."
