ESPN reports that Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will not return this season. In addition, his future with the team is uncertain after suffering a stroke in November.
This report comes just two days after the team shut down superstar Victor Wembanyama after he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
Popovich is the NBA's winningest coach with 1,390 regular-season victories and another 170 in the postseason to go with five championships.
After suffering the stroke, San Antonio moved assistant Mitch Johnson into the head-coaching role on an interim basis, and he's posted a 21-27 record so far.
The Spurs lost to New Orleans Sunday night 114 to 96.
