An employee of the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) has been killed, and another employee is in custody in connection with the killing.
Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies said early Sunday afternoon they were called to the scene of a woman's death on Rocky Knoll Lane in Richmond, not far from FM 762 near Benton Rd.
It's believed she was shot and killed in her home, in an incident involving her husband, both of whom are said to be LCISD employees.
The couple has children, so details of the case are being kept mostly quiet for now.
Those two kids are believed to be attendees of LCISD schools.
Deputies identified the woman as Iona Pollard, her husband as David Pollard -- and she's been identified as an instructional coach at George Junior High School.
A statement from LCISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens on Sunday afternoon expressed condolences to relatives and friends of the Pollard family, suggesting that the community pull together "at this extremely challenging time."
