One of the main opponents of school choice here in Texas has been speaking out against parents who send their kids to private school, despite sending his own children to a local private school here in Houston.

Democratic State House Representative Gene Wu, while speaking at an anti-school choice rally, accused parents of sending their kids to private school so that "they don't have to have their kids with your kids."

Representative Wu has, however, been open about the fact that he sends his own children to a private school, even admitting to spending money on extra tutoring to help his children test into these expensive private schools—an option that Republicans want to open up to more people through school voucher programs that Representative Wu opposes.

Political Strategist Vlad Davidiuk says this is a classic example of hypocritical behavior that has become common among modern leftists. He said, "What we have seen historically from the left is, 'rules for thee, but not for me. Everyone is equal, but we're more equal than you are.'"

He says Representative Wu has always pushed policies that point towards more government control, while his own behavior "is that of pampered elites."

KTRH reached out to Representative Wu's capitol and district offices by both phone and email, but at the time of publishing, neither Representative Wu nor his office had responded to requests for comment.
