If Your Super Bowl Party Is Healthier, It's More Expensive -- Like the Game

If you're thinking about your Super Bowl party for this year, you might be happy to hear that the prices for the standard beer-and-wings parties are about the same as last year, according to a recent survey.

But if you're thinking about bringing out a spread of heathier foods this year, it's going to cost you more -- and in a way that's kind of like the Super Bowl itself.

"If you want to have a healthier party with avocado and cherry tomatoes and veggies and things, those are the things that have gone up," Scott Baradell, CEO of the Dallas ad agency IdeaGrove says.

But also planning a little healthier Super Bowl lineup this year is Fox, the network carrying it.

"There's a bunch of ads for the first time this year for non-alcoholic beverage brands, all quite different when you think about the beer ads of the past, right?"

And Baradell says there are more ads, including those addressing obesity and body-inclusivity, in addition to the usual ads for soft drinks and snacks.

But then going healthy at the game is also more expensive -- the cost of a 30-second commercial this year is a whopping $7 million.
