The first of the Senate confirmation hearings for Donald Trump's cabinet picks is underway, as Pete Hegseth, Trump's pick to lead the Department of Defense, is talking to the Armed Services Committee. He is the first of three cabinet picks to have hearings Tuesday.

RNC committeeman and Galveston County Commissioner Dr. Robin Armstrong thinks the answer to that question is yes. He said, "All of the folks who have been nominated, including Pete Hegseth, the FBI Director, Tulsi Gabbard, I think all these folks are going to be confirmed."

Dr. Armstrong went on to say that he thinks some of these nominees will even be able to pull support from Democratic senators, particularly those in purple states. He said, "They'll get probably 3 or 4 Democrats to support the nominees as well."

He pointed specifically to Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), who has already voiced support for some of Trump's picks. He went on to add that those senators need to be on board with the desires of their constituents, rather than the desires of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

It won't all be smooth sailing, though. Dr. Armstrong warned that there is one nominee that he thinks might have a harder time getting past Democratic opposition than the others. He said, "I believe all his nominees will get through, but I believe if there's anyone that's going to be more difficult, I would say it's going to be RFK Jr."

He says that Senate Democrats are likely to have some "personal animus" towards RFK, who Trump has tapped to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. RFK previously ran against Trump as a Democrat and then as an Independent in the 2024 presidential race, but eventually joined forces with Trump and played a critical role in defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.
