According to a new report, almost 8 million illegal aliens are living in various sanctuary cities, states, and counties across the United States. This isn't just a problem in blue states like New York and California, though.

Jason Richwine with the Center for Immigration Studies says that this is even happening in Republican-controlled Georgia and Louisiana. He said, "Atlanta is a sanctuary city. Remember, Georgia has a Republican legislature and a Republican governor. There's really no excuse."

In Louisiana, where Republicans recently took unified control of the House, Senate, and Executive branch, the city of New Orleans is still considered a sanctuary city.

Richwine says that as long as sanctuary city policies continue, we will never be able to completely seal the border. He said, "We can do as much as we can at the border to discourage migration, but if at the same time there is that other positive incentive, that's going to encourage more of those attempted border crossings."

He says every Republican-controlled state should follow the lead of Texas and Florida and ban sanctuary jurisdictions. By doing so, Richwine says it will make getting to, and staying in the United States look even more difficult, which is something he thinks illegal aliens will respond to.
