Another sign we are not that healthy. A new report out this week in the lancet says worldwide, the number of people with diabetes has doubled in the last 20 years.
While lifestyle and diet are two of the biggest contributing factors, CBS News medical contributor Dr. Celine Gounder says the are really no early warning signs, so regular visits to your primary care physician is recommended.
The numbers in Texas aren't that great either. At last month's American Diabetes Association Conference held in Houston, it was announced that currently there are over 2.5 million adult Texans with diagnosed diabetes, with 135,000 Texans newly diagnosed every year. Doctors can check for diabetes with a simple blood test and is included in many health screenings.
