The San Antonio Zoo plans to host its ninth annual Monarch Fest this weekend. The festival celebrates the migration of monarch butterflies. The event will feature classes, giveaways, and other activities on Saturday and Sunday. Hours for Monarch Fest are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Standard zoo admission includes access to the festival. For an extra $4, zoo visitors can get into the Butterfly Rainforest attraction. The Project Selva 4D Theater Showing is another $6.

San Antonio was named the first Monarch Champion City in 2017 by the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). As a Monarch Champion City, San Antonio Zoo is dedicated to adopting 24 recommended actions cited by the NWF, including hosting a festival dedicated to the monarch butterfly.
