An Austin judge will decide whether Texas Senate Bill Four can take effect next month. The bill would allow Texas police to arrest people who cross the Texas-Mexico border illegally. Yesterday, lawyers for both sides faced off in a federal courtroom in Austin to argue whether the new state law can take effect. Attorneys for the federal government and several nonprofit groups argued only the government can enforce immigration laws. State lawyers argued the Biden Administration policies amount to open border policies.
