1 National Security Adviser Mike Waltz Is Out, Will Be Nominated As UN Ambassador

President Donald Trump has announced a significant shake-up in his national security team. Michael Waltz, who had been serving as National Security Adviser, is being nominated to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. In the interim, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will assume the role of National Security Adviser while retaining his current position. Waltz was reportedly the person who accidentally added a journalist to a military planning chat on Signal, an app ABC News reported yesterday that Waltz was seen still using during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Waltz expressed his continued commitment to serving the nation in his new role. His nomination as U.N. Ambassador will require Senate confirmation, where he is expected to face questions regarding the Signal scandal. Vice President JD Vance commented on the situation, stating that if the president had intended to dismiss Waltz over the Signal controversy, he would have done so directly. Vance emphasized that Waltz had been brought on to implement reforms within the National Security Council and that his reassignment reflects a strategic decision to utilize his strengths in a different capacity.

2 RFK Jr. Asks CDC For New Measles Treatment Guidance

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop new treatment guidelines for measles that incorporate alternative therapies, including the use of budesonide, clarithromycin, and vitamin A. This initiative aligns with Kennedy's recent statements minimizing the severity of measles and promoting unproven treatments. Kennedy's advocacy for these treatments is based on anecdotal reports from two Texas doctors, Dr. Ben Edwards and Dr. Richard Bartlett, who claim success using these methods. However, medical experts are cautioning that these therapies are unproven and potentially harmful. The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that promoting such treatments is misleading and dangerous, emphasizing that there is no cure for measles and that complications can be serious.
