1 Former President Trump Shot At Pennsylvania Rally

Not long after taking the stage Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania for a rally, former President Donald Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt. Three other people were shot, with one killed on the scene and two more in stable condition as of yesterday. Trump was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but was reported by his team to be “fine,” even though the image of the former president holding up one fist with blood covering his ear and splattered on his face quickly spread across the world. Trump told the “Washington Examiner” last night that he has rewritten the speech he’ll be giving Thursday night at the close of the RNC. Trump told the outlet “The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” but said last night he will now call for a new effort at national unity instead, saying “This is a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together. The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would’ve been two days ago.”

2 Four Killed, At Least 10 Wounded In Birmingham Nightclub Shooting

At least one gunman fired into a birthday party being held in a Birmingham, Alabama nightclub Saturday night, killing at least four people and injuring at least 10. The shooting happened just after 11 pm Saturday night on 27th Street North. One man was found fatally shot outside the nightclub on the sidewalk, two women were found dead inside the club, and another man was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital according to Birmingham police spokesman Truman Fitzgerald. The ten other people who were shot were treated at UAB Hospital, with some arriving in private vehicles. There have been no arrests in the shooting, and while police say there was an altercation at the club, detectives haven’t determined if that’s connected to the shooting.

3 Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Demanding Answers For Why Texans Are Still Without Power After Beryl

With around 270,000 homes and business still without power yesterday after the landfall of Hurricane Beryl last Monday, there are plenty of hot people in Texas, but Gov. Greg Abbott is hot in a different way. Abbott announced yesterday that he’s requiring the Public Utility Commission of Texas to investigate why restoration of power has taken so long, and what has to be done to make sure it moves faster next time. Centerpoint Energy has restored power to about two million customers since July 8th.
