1 Trump Probation Interview Set For Today, Judge Questions Facebook Post Claiming To Know Trial Verdict Beforehand

An unusual development in the trial of former President Donald Trump came out on Friday, but a normal part of the process is scheduled for today. Trump is set to sit for a virtual interview with a New York City probation officer today. The former president plans to attend the meeting from Mar-a-Lago with his attorney Todd Blanche by his side. The interview is required after a guilty verdict and before sentencing, which is scheduled to happen in New York on July 11th, just four days before the Republican National Convention. Trump is facing a sentence ranging from probation up to four years in prison. On Friday, Judge Juan Merchan wrote a letter to attorneys in the case to alert them about a problem with the jury. Specifically, Merchan referred to a comment made on a post unrelated to the trial on the Unified Court System’s public Facebook page. The comment said “My cousin is a juror and said Trump is getting convicted,” and was posted before the verdict had been reached. There’s been no confirmation of the comment’s accuracy, but if it’s verified it would be grounds for Trump to have his verdict set aside and possibly lead to a new trial. When asked about the letter from Merchan, a Trump campaign official said “we’re investigating.”

2 Hamas Says Three Hostages Were Killed During Raid That Rescued Four Others

Israeli special forces moved into Gaza Saturday to mount a rescue mission for hostages. Saying they were acting on intelligence information, the raid resulted in the rescue of four hostages that have been in captivity in Gaza since the October 7th raid into Israel by Hamas. The Israel Defense Force said no more than 100 civilians were killed during the operation, while Hamas released a fatality count of 274 from the operation. A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council told ABC News yesterday that they’ve “seen nothing to corroborate these claims.” While there had been speculation that the temporary pier put into place by the US for aid was used in the operation, US defense officials said it played no part. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration received a blow yesterday with Israeli Minister Benny Gantz announcing that he was resigning from the emergency government. Gantz said he was leaving because of what he describes as a lack of a plan from Netanyahu for the “day after” in Gaza. Gantz announced his departure during a televised news conference, and also said his State Party and the seats it held in government with him. While leaving, Gantz called on Netanyahu to set a date for elections in Israel. After the resignation, Netanyahu released a statement on X saying “Israel is in an existential war on several fronts.”

3 Large Chunk Of Teton Pass Road In Wyoming Collapses

The collapse of a mountain road is never a good thing, but the large chunk of Teton Pass Road that slid down the side of the mountain the road runs around is going to cause problems. The road is a highly traveled link between eastern Idaho and Jackson, Wyoming. The road was already closed when it collapsed early Saturday morning because of damage that was showing in the area that collapsed. According to a spokesperson for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, the alternate route for those who usually use Teton Pass Road goes more than 60-miles out of the way. There’s no estimate on how long it’ll take to repair the road.
