1 Trump Trial: Day One

The criminal “hush money” trial of former President Donald Trump was in session for the first time yesterday, but not much was accomplished. Trump is now the first former president to ever stand trial on criminal charges in the history of the US, and would also become the first convicted felon to run for the White House if he’s found guilty. The trial is expected to last at least six weeks, and Trump is required to be in attendance every day that court is in session. Day one was taken up with jury selection and ended without a single juror being confirmed. Over 50 of the prospective jurors were excused yesterday, with several making it clear that they couldn’t be objective. Judge Juan Merchan has said there’s a pool of up to 500 Manhattan residents the jury can be empaneled from, and over one-tenth has already been eliminated.

2 Gaza War Protestors Shut Down Traffic Around The Country

Traffic ground to a halt around the country yesterday as protestors blocked major roads protesting the war in Gaza. Demonstrators on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco held a sign that read “stop the world for Gaza,” chaining themselves together and using vehicles to block travel lanes on the bridge for around five hours. Protesters chained themselves to 55-gallon drums filled with cement on Interstate 880 in Oakland. The California Highway Patrol issued a statement and said “These individuals will be arrested.” Around 40 people were arrested at O’Hare International Airport after a group obstructed traffic wearing stop sign-shaped badges that said “Stop sending bombs.” The group Chicago Dissenters said the date for the protest was picked to coincide with the April 15th tax filing deadline. Protestors blocked traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, with the New York City Police saying they were arresting the protestors. An expressway leading to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was blocked by protestors as well

3 Owners Are Ready To Sell Ford Bronco From O.J. Simpson Chase

If you’re in the market for a piece of history, the opportunity of a lifetime may be coming up. The white Ford Bronco used by O.J. Simpson in his infamous slow-speed chase in 1994 could be going up for sale. The owners, which include Simpson’s ex-manager Michael Gilbert and two associates of Al Cowlings had been planning to possibly sell it this year even before O.J. died of cancer. The last offer the three received for the vehicle? Around $750,000; it’s currently on loan to the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where its been since 2016.
