1 Attack On Israel By Iran

Saturday night the expected strike on Israel was launched by Iran but wound up causing minimal damage. Iran sent a volley of over 300 drones and missiles targeted throughout Israel, but all but a few were intercepted by Israel and its allies, including the US. Defenses in Israel intercepted 99-percent of the attack, which included 170 unmanned drones, over 120 ballistic missiles, and over 30 cruise missiles. The only casualty reported was a seven-year-old girl who was injured when she was hit by shrapnel from an intercepted missile. It wasn’t all good defense, though; two US officials told ABC News that at least half of the ballistic missiles either failed to launch, failed in flight, or crashed before reaching their targets. While US military forces destroyed 80 drones and at least six ballistic missiles, the conversation after the attack quickly turned to a possible retaliatory strike on Iran. President Joe Biden reportedly told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US won’t participate in any strike on Iran. National Security Council communications coordinator John Kirby said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” yesterday that during the conversation between Biden and Netanyahu, the president “is doing everything…to try to keep this from becoming a broader regional war.”

2 First Criminal Trial Of A Former President Set To Start Today

Today is scheduled to be the start of yet another unprecedented event in US history. Former President Donald Trump’s trial on criminal hush money charges is scheduled to being today in New York with jury selection, which Trump said on Friday is “all about luck.” The charges against Trump stem from an alleged scheme to bury negative stories about Trump before the 2016 election in an attempt to influence the election, including alleged payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who both allegedly had an affair with Trump, with McDougal allegedly paid off by American Media, Inc., the publisher of the National Enquirer. Several of the people alleged to have been involved in the scheme could show up on the stand as a witness for the prosecution, including Trump’s former White House communications director Hope Hicks, who’s accused of putting together the “catch and kill” scheme to keep negative stories out of the public eye. New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged Trump with 34 counts in the case.
