1 Father Of Oxford High School Shooter Found Guilty Of Manslaughter

After two days of deliberations, a jury in Michigan reached a verdict yesterday in the trial of James Crumbley. Jurors found Crumbley, the father of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley, guilty on four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of four of Ethan’s classmates, 16-year-old Tate Myre, 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana, and 17-year-olds Madisyn Baldwin and Justin Shilling. James’ conviction was decided by the jury just weeks after his wife Jennifer was also found guilty of the same four charges for her role in the shooting. During James’ trial, prosecutors said that he could have prevented the shooting by securing the gun used in the attack and keeping his son from being able to get it. Prosecutors also said James failed to get his son help after he displayed warning signs, including violent drawings found on a math test the morning of the shooting. Ethan was sentenced to life in prison without parole in December after pleading guilty to 24 charges; his parents will both be sentenced for their convictions on April 9th.

2 Sen. Bernie Sanders Introduces Bill To Reduce The Workweek From 40 Hours To 32

You need more free time. That’s the opinion of Sen. Bernie Sanders, who held a hearing yesterday on a bill he’s introduced titled the “Thirty-Two Hour Work Week Act,” which would do exactly what it says. The bill would reduce the standard workweek from 40 hours to 32 hours over the span of four years, and lower the number of hours an employee would have to work before they would have to be paid overtime. The other key part of the bill is that it would require no loss of pay because of the reduction in hours. In a statement, Sanders said, “Moving to a 32-hour workweek with no loss of pay is not a radical idea. Today, American workers are over 400 percent more productive than they were in the 1940s.” During the hearing, Sanders pointed out that the last time a Senate hearing was held on reducing the length of a workweek was in 1955, and that it was time to discuss it again. Sen. Laphonza Butler of California introduced the legislation with Sanders, while Rep. Mark Takano, also of California, introduced companion legislation in the House.

3 SpaceX Loses Starship On Reentry

When you’re developing cutting-edge tech, “success” can have a different definition than what some would think it would. SpaceX made its third attempt to launch its Starship rocket yesterday, and it not only successfully lifted off but actually reached orbit, drawing congratulations from Elon Musk and NASA Administrator Bill Nelson on X. The rocket is planned to be used by NASA to return to the moon, but the test wasn’t a complete success; Starship was planned to splash down in the Indian Ocean but never made it after an engine misfired. Liftoff, orbit, safe return…two out of three.
