World Series Game 6 Highlights

Not even sure why they played last night’s Game Six of the world series when it the outcome seemed obvious. The starters in Houston were Astros’ Justin Verlander—who had lost all five of his previous World Series starts—versus the Nationals Stephen Strasburg—who has never lost a start in his previous five postseason appearances—including a perfect 4-0 this post season entering last night.

And if that wasn’t enough—the visiting team had won every single game of the 2019 series. So, all signs were pointing to the visiting Nationals.

And all of those signs were right, as—for the first time the history of the storied Fall Classic—the visiting team won each of the first six games and Verlander has six World Series losses and Strasburg six postseason wins.

It may not have looked that way early on, when the Astros answered the Nationals first inning tally with two runs of their own.

But after that it was all Nats as the lead turned when Adam Eaton and Juan Soto hit these solo homers off Verlander in the fifth inning to give the Nats a 3-2 lead. Funny thing is—in between the two homers—Anthony Rendon flied out to right. It was funny because it was the only out he would make all night as Rendon had hits in his other three at bats—including a two-run shot of his own in the seventh and another two run double in the ninth. Rendon would finish with five RBIs as the Nationals rallied past the Astros 7-2 and tied the Series at 3-3.
