Our TV Partner News 4 San Antonio reports that Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is looking to delay a deal she just made for Project Manvel.

The report indicates that the mayor is pushing for an independent study to assess the economic impact of the project, despite opposition from the majority of the city council.

The city council had already agreed on a term sheet to advance Project Marvel, with a vote scheduled for later this month. Now, the agenda for the next city council meeting reveals the mayor's intention to halt the development, taking several council members off guard.

City Manager Erik Walsh is expected to update the city council this week. The project hinges on two tax measures: a hotel/rental car tax vote in November and an infrastructure tax vote in the spring. Both must pass for the project to proceed.

A crucial meeting is scheduled for Thursday to determine the future of Project Marvel, assuming no further developments occur before then.
