The Rice Owls are moving on from their longtime head football coach. Rice has fired Mike Bloomgren midway through his seventh season with the program. The Owls have gone 24-and-52 under Bloomgren since he was hired in 2018. The 47-year-old coach is expected to be owed $900,000 by the university. Associate head coach Pete Alamar will step in as the team's interim head coach for the rest of the season.
