More details are emerging about Israel's retaliatory airstrikes in Iran. NBC News reports Arab sources are saying the initial strike on Tehran appears to have targeted a barracks or office -- and a weapons depot. Israel's military says it conducted precise strikes on military targets, adding they were in response to "months of continuous attacks" from the Islamic Republic. Senior Biden administration officials says the military targets did not include nuclear or energy hubs. Israel's action comes after Iran launched nearly 200 missiles at Israel on October 1st.
The U.S. Security Council says it's aware of Israel's airstrikes in Iran. Officials also say there was no U.S. military involvement in the attack that occurred early Saturday local time. Officials say they were given a heads up the airstrikes were going to happen. An Israeli official tells NBC News that Israel is not striking Iranian nuclear facilities or oil fields and is focusing on military targets.
