U.S. Senator John Cornyn is meeting with farmers and ranchers affected by a lack of water in South Texas. Cornyn and Arkansas Senator John Boozman were part of a roundtable in Mission yesterday. Farmers spoke of their frustration with the current water situation, noting that they could be out of business in two years if conditions don't change. Farmers also asked the senators to try to force Mexico to deliver the water it owes the United States under a decades-old treaty. Cornyn said lawmakers will use "every tool in our toolbox" to help the farmers, adding that he plans to meet with Mexico's new president during her inauguration in October.
