The Longhorns will be without a major playmaker on offense this season. Texas running back CJ Baxter has suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require surgery. An MRI revealed that the sophomore injured his LCL and PCL during a practice session. Baxter had 659 rushing yards, 156 receiving yards and five total touchdowns last season. He was projected to share carries with Jaydon Blue this season. In other team news, four-star wide receiver prospect Kaliq Lockett has committed to the Longhorns. Lockett is ESPN's 23rd-ranked recruit in the 2025 class.
