The late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee's two children are endorsing former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to be her replacement. Turner is one of 17 people who have expressed an interest in replacing Jackson Lee, who died last month at age 74. Former City Councilman Dwight Boykins withdrew his candidacy after Monday's endorsement. The state Democratic Party will choose the candidate next week. A special election to complete Jackson Lee's term in the 18th Congressional District is scheduled for November 5th.
