The Rangers added an experienced arm to their bullpen prior to the trade deadline. Texas has acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for minor league pitchers Joseph Montalvo and Chase Lee. The 34-year-old Chafin is 3-and-2 with a 3.16 ERA and one save through 41 appearances this season. Montalvo was the 27th-ranked prospect in Texas' system. In other team news, rookie Evan Carter will likely miss the remainder of the season due to a lumbar sprain in his back. Carter has not played since May 26th after batting .188 with five home runs and 15 RBIs through 45 games.
