Comal ISD is dealing with a budget gap of more than 23-million-dollars while trying to accommodate a rapid rise in student enrollment. At the quarterly luncheon of the Greater New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation on Tuesday, Superintendent John Chapman provided an update. He said the district is expecting 30-thousand students in the upcoming school year and nearly 40-thousand by 2033. The district is building a new middle school and a new elementary school to accommodate some of the growth.
