TxDOT is teaming up with police agencies statewide during Operation Slowdown. The agency has also launched its "Be Safe, Drive Smart" anti-speeding campaign. A TxDOT spokesman there's more to driving a safe speed than just following the posted limit. Drivers need to slow down when they're driving through rain, fog, or a roadwork zone. TxDOT says speed was the top contributing factor in more than 11-thousand crashes in San Antonio last year, resulting in 103 deaths.
