Some state lawmakers are planning to renew an effort in the next legislative session to prevent land ownership in Texas by hostile nations. Last year, a senate bill aimed to ban land purchases by people and entities associated with China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. The bill failed in the Legislature, but on Wednesday, a House committee discussed ways to create a bill to keep hostile nations from buying property near critical state infrastructure. Gov. Greg Abbott has previously supported the idea. The Legislature reconvenes in January.
