U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett is praising what he calls President Joe Biden's "selfless" decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. The Austin Democrat was the first in the party to call on Biden to step aside. Doggett issued his plea to Biden on July 2nd, a few days after the president's embarrassing performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump. Doggett is the longest-serving member of the Texas Congressional delegation, which gave considerable weight to his call for Biden's withdrawal.
