San Antonio-area shelters are taking part in the Bissell Pet Foundation's "Empty the Shelters" initiative this month. From now through the end of July, shelters nationwide are working with the foundation to offer free or discounted adoptions. Participating local shelters include Animal Care Services, the Animal Defense League, Cibolo Animal Services, the Humane Society of New Braunfels, the San Antonio Humane Society, San Antonio Pets Alive, and Universal City Animal Care.
