Police in Round Rock say at least two people are dead and more are injured following a shooting Saturday night at a Juneteenth celebration. The shooting happened at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said during a news conference the two victims who were killed were bystanders and were not part of an altercation that led to the shooting.

A concert was taking place at the time, but Banks said the shooting was near the vendors section and not near the stage. Police did not have an exact number of how many were injured, but did say two children were among those taken to area hospitals.

“I’d like to thank the police officers and the Fire Department for their quick actions,” said Banks. “I have no doubt that their quick actions in rendering aid to the victims saved lives.”

“It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens,” Banks said. “My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.”
