The Rangers avoided a sweep against the Tigers. Texas defeated Detroit 9-1 in the finale of a three-game series at Globe Life Field. Jonah Heim and Josh Smith each had three hits, a home run and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Jose Urena improved to 2-and-5 after tossing six strikeouts and allowing just one run on one hit through six-and-two-thirds innings. The Rangers snapped a two-game losing streak and sit second in the AL West at 30-and-32. They remain home to host the San Francisco Giants tomorrow night. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen is slated to start opposite San Francisco righty Logan Webb.
