The Astros are losing another member of their starting rotation for the remainder of the year. The Athletic reports that Houston starter Cristian Javier will undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday and put an end to his 2024 season. Javier is now expected to be sidelined for 12-to-14 months. He was placed on the injured list on May 27th due to forearm discomfort and has not pitched since. The 27-year-old went 3-and-1 with a 3.89 ERA through seven starts this season. It was reported earlier this week that fellow Houston starter Jose Urquidy is also set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
