New anti-panhandling signs are in place on the Northwest Side to discourage drivers from giving handouts. San Antonio City Councilman Manny Palaez used city funds to pay for the signs at busy intersections along I-10. The signs direct drivers instead to donate to local charities that help the homeless. City ordinance bans panhandling within 50-feet of ATMs, banks, check cashing businesses, crosswalks, restaurant entrances and exits, bus stops, and other areas.
