The Texas Republican Party's convention is underway in San Antonio. Nearly 10,000 delegates met Thursday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center with the goals of making Texas redder than ever and delivering the state to former President Donald Trump in November's election. Before a cheering crowd, Attorney General Ken Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick described their fellow Republican, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, as somebody who's too friendly with the Democrats. The convention runs through Saturday, and Phelan doesn't plan to attend.
