The Texas A&M University System is interested in placing gas-fired power plants on university-owned property statewide. On Wednesday, system officials invited developers to submit proposals for a network of plants that can run for short periods of peak usage on the state power grid. The A&M System identified about 30 suitable sites, where power and gas lines intersect. The preferred locations would be near A&M campuses, but the Public Utility Commission will work out the details.
