The state plans to build a behavioral health campus in Uvalde for children and adults experiencing mental health crises. Gov. Greg Abbott announced the 34-million-dollar project on Monday. The state Legislature approved the funding for the project last year, and Abbott signed it into law. The facility will feature two 16-bed crisis units, one for adults and the other for kids. A second building will provide outpatient services. Construction is scheduled to start this summer and take about a year. The facility will serve a 32-county area.
