The Valero Texas Open is underway. This week's PGA Tour event is taking place at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. Last year's winner, Corey Conners, is back in the field this year. The 32-year-old will be alongside Collin Morikawa and Max Homa for the first two rounds. Patrick Rodgers, Justin Lower, and Vince Whaley were among the first group of players to tee off on Thursday. Other notable names playing this week include Rory Mcllroy and Jordan Spieth.
Akshay Bhatia is sitting atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Valero Texas Open. Bhatia finished the opening round of the tournament nine under 63 for a three-stroke lead over the field. Justin Lower and Brendon Todd are both tied for second at six under par. Several other players are tied for fourth at four under. Defending champion Corey Conners is tied for 17th at two under par. Ben Griffin, Matti Schmid and Hayden Buckley will be among the first group of players teeing off round two.
