Southwest Research Institute will play a significant role in a project funded by the U.S. Space Force. The San Antonio-based R&D nonprofit will take the lead in building and testing a small demo spacecraft called the Astroscale Prototype Servicer for Refueling. The spacecraft will be designed to refuel other space vehicles in geosynchronous orbit. The institute will start on the construction of the 25-million-dollar host vehicle over the next 16-months.
