Campaign finance data indicate that GOP primary candidates who support school choice received much more financial support in 20 Texas House races than incumbents who oppose school vouchers. Governor Greg Abbott and Dallas-based American Federation for Children spent nearly $10 million since January 1st on the campaigns of school choice advocates. A political action committee funded by Charles Butt of H-E-B spent less than $3 million on the campaigns of incumbents opposed to school vouchers. Ten of the 20 GOP incumbents either lost in the primaries or are on their way to runoff elections.
