Representative Colin Allred will challenge Republican Ted Cruz in the U.S. Senate Race, after winning the Democratic Primary. Allred told supporters it is time for a change. "The fundamental reason that democracy works is that the people elect leaders to represent them and their interests and to try to fix things for them, not to look out for themselves. We've had enough of that with Ted Cruz," said Allred.
Allred told supporters he will be a senator for all Texans and promised to build a coalition of Democrats, Independents and Republicans in his campaign. Senator Cruz said he was looking forward to the campaign against Allred, saying he plans to meet Texans in every corner of the state and to work together to keep Texas, Texas.
“I am proud to be the GOP’s decisive nominee for U.S. Senate. This race is about our law enforcement officers, our parents, farmers, ranchers, students, oil and gas workers, neighbors, and pastors, who are proud to call the Lone Star State home," said Cruz. "This is about Texas, about building bridges, fighting for our cadets, expanding highways, creating jobs, and protecting the state that we cherish so deeply. Never before has it been more important to unify and fight against the radical left who threaten to change what makes this state great. I look forward to continuing to meet Texans in every corner of the state as we work together to ensure that we keep Texas, Texas.”
