The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department says a strange and rare mushroom is now in the city. The Texas Star Mushroom is a hissing fungus also known as the Devil's Cigar. It's found only in parts of central and northern Texas, and in Japan. The Texas Star has been the official state mushroom since 2021. A Parks and Rec Facebook post on Monday announced the mushroom is in San Antonio, but didn't say where. The mushroom was spotted in Inks Lake State Park near Austin in December.
