Local courts are overrun with immigration cases after months of record numbers of illegal border crossings. In San Antonio, about a dozen immigration judges are dealing with thousands of cases, and the situation is expected to get worse. Some migrant families travel through San Antonio, but their cases are often transferred to the city nearest to where they plan to stay with relatives or friends. The process can take months or even years, and it's likely to get slower as the number of border crossings grows.
