The Justice Department is expected to release its report on the police response to the school shooting in Uvalde on Thursday. DOJ officials notified Uvalde school officials about the upcoming release at the school board meeting on Monday night. Shortly after the shooting in May 2022 that killed 19 students and two teachers, the DOJ announced its plan to conduct a review of how police handled the situation. DOJ officials said the idea is to "identify lessons learned and best practices to help first responders" deal with future incidents.
