The mayor of Eagle Pass says the state took over a public park in the border city as part of its border security efforts. Mayor Rolando Salinas Jr. said on Thursday that he was told about the state's action not long before military personnel fenced off 47-acre Shelby Park, closing it to the public. A spokeswoman for Gov. Greg Abbott didn't give a particular reason why the state took over the park. Abbott has blamed President Joe Biden for the flood of illegal immigrants into Texas over the past three-years.
